Description

This is a 3-ton spur geared block, Model B-S, made in USA by the Yale & Towne Mfg. Co. The spur geared hoist was invented by the company in 1877. This unit has no date or serial number on it so there is no way of knowing exactly how old it is, but it was in service for many years. It seems to be functional, but it is being sold as an antique, not for actual use. No chains are included.
The unit measures about 14" in diameter, with a 13" diameter handwheel. The overall length is about 15". Its massive hook is 10" long.
Note: This chain hoist is extremely heavy! The 2-ton version weighs 162 lbs, so I'm guessing this one is well over 200 lbs. I highly recommend using an engine hoist to lift and load it. (The metal cart shown in the pictures is not included.)
